WHY CREATE A BLOG?

I am not going to bullshit you. In fact, I used to try to bullshit people but found it to be totally counterproductive, since your visitors are not idiots.  There are a lot of savvy people out there now and what you could get away with in the late 1990s is a no-no now.

My honesty even extends to informing you that the text below in color will lead you to other sites providing further information on the topic of the text that is doing the linking, so to say!  Everybody does it, so why not me?  I am not trying to force you into anything, but if the text or title interests you click it and you can get back here at anytime by clicking on the red cross at the top right of your screen.  That's as little bullshit as you can get on a website!

Bullshitting used to be such an art (and perhaps still is) that I have a page on this devoted to it!  There you can read about the various bullshitting techniques that people use to persuade you to do what they want you to do. If you want a look, click on the link at the bottom of the page.  It is entertaining and instructive, but it use the word "bullshit" a lot - perhaps too much when I reread it!

I am not a full time internet marketer since I still have the day job.  In fact, I am an industrial research chemist, and if I were given the option to earn loadsamoney online, or carry out my industrial research, I would stick with the day job thanks because I enjoy it.

I go to my work every morning with a light heart knowing that today will be different to yesterday, and that tomorrow will be different still.  Perhaps a lot of that has to with the fact that I can walk to my workplace in less than 5 minutes.  I have no gas to pay for or any struggle through traffic.  I live and work in the countryside, just on the edge of medium sized town, and that is why I am contented, as is my family.

So, back to the benefits of blogs.  I now have several websites, but used to run one dealing with childhood diseases.  That is how I got started because my son had meningitis and viral encephalitis when he was two years old.  I started with one of Ken Evoy’s SiteBuildIt websites, and it did OK.  I put a blog on that which comes with Ken’s package, and saw how much traffic it brought me, and when I started up my article-writing business online, I naturally used a blog.  At that time it was using Wordpress, because my web host, Third Sphere, provided that as standard.

It worked too well, and I got too much traffic.  That's great if you are selling a product but if you are providing an article writing service, there is only so much you can do yourself.  NOTE:  Anybody wanting to write some of my articles please email me – we can both make money.  I have still have to turn down work!  I can only write 20 a day max, so could do with some help!  I could have orders for ten times that, and if I opened my blog again…

Anyway, the message I am trying to give you is that if you have a blog, then irrespective of the business you are in, you are going to get a lot more of it.  You will be contacted by people who want information on your niche without actually wanting to buy anything, but that is what you are there for.  Always take the attitude that you are online to provide information and assistance to those that need it.

Take the selling secondary and you will succeed far better than if you enter internet marketing believing that your prime concern is to make money.  I still have the day job, yet I make $240 every day writing articles.  I write at a very high standard on any topic whatsoever because I try to excel at what I do, but that is secondary to my main job and caring for my wife and family.  That is not my only source of internet income, but the main point is that this all started through a blog.

If you want to see where it is now then just enter ‘article services’ into your browser and you will find my website somewhere near the top – it ends in .com!  A blog can be what you want it to be.  It can be a personal diary, an intimation to others of when changes are made to pages within your website, and advertising portal or even a virtual forum wherein people can communicate and pass on tips and ideas

I would advise anybody with a website to put their blog right there on the website, and not on the blog provider’s website.  That way you have total control over what you do with it and can use the commercially available plug-ins that suit your needs. Quite frankly, a blog can make the world of difference to the success of your website if your use for it requires traffic, so have a look around and see what is available, and choose that which suits you best.

If you are unsure, then I don’t mind if you email me with your question. Get going and give it a try. It will cost you nothing to try, but eventually you will need some help, and that is where I will get involved.
